The week of Christmas is actually here! And so is our garden. We had a rainstorm that washed some of it away, but it’s going to be beautiful. David Atalifo told us that when it rains that hard and long, it’s called a “rain bath,” and people go out and bathe in it.
This week was Tetika’s 21st birthday, and we celebrated by giving him his first taste of carrot cake. It was a busy day for him because he and Tawetia were translating talks given by the area presidency into Kiritabati, so we were thankful he was able to spend a few moments with us.
Saturday was movie night, so we showed “Elf.” We love to hear our YSAs laugh! It was like the place was filled with elves…
The highlight of the evening was singing “God Be With You to Ilivasi, who will be leaving on his mission to Australia December 31st. He is an outstanding young man, and will be a wonderful missionary.
Sunday was like Christmas for us, — no, even better — because our daughter Nicole came to visit!! She got off the plane, changed clothes, and went with us to Samabula 1st ward, where she and other visitors were welcomed by the RS sisters with a white paper lei.
After church, we went Christmas caroling to some widows with our Tamavua 2nd ward. Sure easeir than going out and singing in the freezing cold!
We finished our day attending the graduation of 81 Self Reliance course students. We are proud of our YSAs who received graduation certificates! What a day – what a great place to be:)
